VersaTrax™ NDT Robotic Inspection Crawler System

Taking Advanced Inspections to the Next Level.

Introducing VersaTrax NDT by Eddyfi Technologies—a modular robotic system that brings advanced nondestructive testing (NDT) into tough, onceinaccessible spaces while improving inspector safety. With a flexible architecture that accommodates ultrasonic testing (UT), eddy current array (ECA), alternating current field measurement (ACFM®), and remote visual inspection (RVI), VersaTrax NDT enables frequent inservice assessments, realtime condition insights, and data collection in confined or hazardous areas—minimizing scaffolding, rope access, confinedspace entry, and asset downtime.

  • Crawler Tether Length: up to 100 m (330 ft)
  • Probe Reach (UT/ECA): up to 30 m (100 ft) from the crawler
  • Live Video: FHD continuous-tilt camera with 10× optical / 12× digital zoom; ultralow-latency streaming
  • Depth Rating (crawler): 60 m (200 ft)
  • Data Correlation: ICON™ software records RVI and correlates with UT/ECA data

What’s Included (Typical UT Package)

  • Crawler: VersaTrax NDT (magnetic adhesion)
  • Controller: IC500 portable controller with ICON™ software (IC100 optional for short tether configurations)
  • Tethers: Crawler 100 m (330 ft); UT probe 30 m (100 ft)
  • UT Instrument: Mantis 16:64PR with Capture™ software

Key Features & Capabilities

Magnetic crawler built for harsh industrial environments

Stable adhesion and traction on steel structures for climbing and scanning.

Integrated FHD inspection camera

Continuous tilt, 10× optical / 12× digital zoom, auxiliary LEDs and lasers for accurate positioning.

Modular multimission platform

Supports UT, ACFM®, and Tangential Eddy Current Array (TECA) on top of RVI within one familiar ICON™ control environment.

Encoded, auditable data

RScan collects UT thickness readings every 1 mm (0.04 in) with realtime A-scan and B-scan displays for traceable results.

Drycoupled UT

No couplant or water needed; ideal for remote, petrochemical, or vertical/inverted scans.

TECA for welds

Sharck™ BW scans cap, toe, and HAZ in one pass (53 mm / 2.1 in coverage) and sizes cracks up to 7 mm (0.28 in) without paint removal.

Unified reporting

Capture™ (UT) and Magnifi™ GO (ECA) deliver intuitive displays and onsite reporting; ICON™ stores synchronized visual evidence.

Welcome to a world of modular robotics designed for your remote industrial application

Industrial Robotic Applications
OnSpec Cleaning Robot

Eddyfi Technologies is an innovation leader in modular, mobile, industrial robotic systems with a global reputation for reliability, efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness. We create technology that enables people to perform tasks that they could not otherwise do, in places they could not otherwise go. OnSpec Robotics, or custom robots built to your precise needs, enable access to areas that are too dangerous or remote for direct human intervention, providing time and cost-efficient operations.

Do you ever wish you could be in several places at once? Eddyfi Technologies has been doing it for years with our unique, multi-mission modular technology. The art and science of OnSpec Robotics is a very human endeavor taking you beyond what is humanly possible. Our remotely operated systems bridge the gap between you and the physical world, helping you reach the unreachable, see the unseen, and go safely beyond your physical limitations to perform the work left otherwise undone.

Whichever way you look, our bespoke industrial robots have your remote operation challenges covered. When the job calls for new ideas and fresh approaches, we are OnSpec. Whether it’s about integrating a unique OEM module, adapting proven technology for atypical conditions, or designing a custom solution from scratch, Eddyfi Technologies’ robotic experts will sit down with you to fully understand the exact nature of the problem, before scoping the optimal solution for your needs.

We recognize that choosing the right robotic technology for your business is a complex decision – one that goes beyond quality, reliability, and craftsmanship. We know it’s about identifying the systems best adapted for your precise needs. You require innovative solutions? It’s up to us to understand your questions and provide clear, relevant, actionable answers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which NDT techniques does VersaTrax NDT support?
Out of the box: UT thickness (RScan) and TECA buttweld packages. The platform is designed to support ACFM® and additional techniques through its modular architecture.
What distances are supported?
The crawler operates with 100 m tethers; UT/ECA probes extend an additional 30 m from the crawler for standoff operation.
Do I need couplant for UT?
No. The drycoupled RScan wheel probe eliminates couplant/water, ideal for remote, vertical, or inverted scans.
Can I operate underwater?
The crawler is depthrated to 60 m (200 ft). Probe use in submerged scenarios depends on the specific configuration—consult application engineering for your setup.
